STRENGTH & SENSITIVITY

Saturday March 9, 2019 at 8pm at the Arts at the Armory

In conjunction with international women’s month and HeForShe Arts Week, Kadence Arts was proud to present Colleen Bernstein’s touring concert experience, Strength & Sensitivity. Strength & Sensitivity blends percussion music, poetry readings, and multimedia exploring the impact of stereotypes, social-emotional intelligence, and the intersection of art and the gender equality movement. Strength & Sensitivity uses the immense, unique power that art has to catalyze new pathways of thought and action. In today’s divisive socio-political climate -- the watershed era of #MeToo, #TimesUp, and #BelieveWomen -- it is essential that artists unite in celebration and empowerment of traditionally underrepresented communities. The Boston program featured 22 local musicians playing original works ranging from rap to funk, classical, experimental, musical theatre, and soul, within the framework of poetry from Gloria Anzaldua and Maya Angelou, and music by contemporary classical heavy hitters Julia Wolfe and John Cage.
